Technical Details from Main Character


This is João Alcantra! A Brazilian Civil Police Officer from a game that me and partners are developing. I aimed on a cinematic version in order to optmize it for the gameplay version. We are using Unreal 5.1 as the main Engine and using optmization tools as Mip Map, LODs, Auto LODs, Master Materials and etc.

I started from a Metahuman project, sculpted the head and arms on ZBrush, created the clothes on Marvelous and after created the Low Poly version on Maya. My partner Willen Bernardi helped me adding all the clothes and acessories in the Metahuman's Rig. Then I created the hairs via grooms on the XGen using Interactive Groom. All the Look Dev process were made on Substance Painter. The head skin texture came from a free image on 3D Scan Store and then I wrapped on the metahuman's head by using Warp Project.

Finally I imported all of this in Unreal 5.1 and created an Actor. With Willen's rigs I could use one skeleton for all the meshes. Other acessories such as glasses, rings and etc I attached as a socket in a joint. The XGen grooms that I've made I binded on the Metahuman's scalps.
